BLIK is a payment method that is available in the Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Santander Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski, Getin Bank, Noble Bank, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Bank Pekao S.A., Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa, BPS Bank, Nest Bank and EnveloBank mobile apps.
- payments in physical and online stores,
- cash withdrawals and deposits at ATMs/cash deposit machines,
- immediate BLIK transfers to mobile between customers of various banks,
- generation of BLIK cheques (9-digit code), used to make payments and withdraw cash from ATMs,
- sending a transfer request to settle accounts with friends even faster,
- recurring payments, which are used to pay cyclical liabilities such as charges for services in the subscription model or electricity or telephone bills.
Anyone can use BLIK if they have a mobile app from one of the banks: Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Santander Bank Polska, ING Bank Śląski, mBank, PKO Bank Polski, Getin Bank, Noble Bank, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Bank Pekao S.A., Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa, BPS Bank, Nest Bank and EnveloBank.
You need to download the mobile app of the bank where you have an account to your phone. Just check beforehand whether BLIK is avaliable at your bank.
BLIK works on all Android and iOS devices. You need an Internet connection (data package or Wi-Fi) to use BLIK.
Both the BLIK payment service and the banking application itself have a number of necessary safety features: firstly, the person downloading the bank app with BLIK has to be properly verified by the bank so that they can assign the downloaded application to their bank account. The verification method depends on the bank whose application is being downloaded – it can be e.g. a call from a CallCentre, verification in electronic banking or a code sent by text message.
The second safety parameter is the application access mechanism – such as a PIN, fingerprint or password. Without them it is not be possible to access the bank’s app.
The code needed to conduct the transaction is generated and centrally managed by Polski Standard Płatności, the operator of BLIK. This is assured by the uniqueness of a one-off code, which is assigned to the user and valid for just 2 minutes. BLIK itself, as a service, does not store any user data that could be stolen, intercepted and used in another transaction.
A request to accept a payment that a user sees in her application contains transaction details – at least the amount and the recipient of the payment, and this is another important safety mechanism. ATM withdrawals, online transactions and payments in physical stores for more than PLN 50 must be additionally confirmed by the user with a PIN code (unless the bank provides customers with the ability to manage such limits). There is no need to provide data or for the payment instrument to physically contact the terminal or ATM.

You can use BLIK to make payments online, in physical stores and points of sale.
In online stores, BLIK usually appears as an option at the stage of choosing the payment method while shopping.
If BLIK does not appear as one of the payment methods, check to see if it is under the logo of the payment integrators.
Physical stores accepting BLIK are marked with a sticker with the BLIK logo. You can also ask the retailer if the store accepts payments with BLIK.
You can withdraw cash with BLIK at most ATMs in Poland. These are Santander Bank Polska’s, ING Bank Śląski’s, Bank Millennium’s, PKO Bank Polski’s, Bank BPS’ or Euronet’s, PlanetCash’s and IT Card’s ATMs.
Inform your bank immediately and block the application in electronic banking. If your phone allows you to clear its contents remotely; also use this function for the security of your data. Remember to secure access to your phone with a password or PIN code. If you lose it, you will reduce the risk of access to the data by unauthorized personnel.
Each bank provides the basic functions, namely the BLIK code, which is used for making payments in online and physical stores and to withdraw cash from ATMs. The BLIK code always consists of six digits, but its location in the apps of banks can vary slightly. The availability of features such as cash deposits, BLIK transfer to mobile and cheque generation depends on what the bank offers its customers. Likewise the limits on the quantity and amounts for BLIK transactions are set individually by the banks.
The appropriate institution is the bank whose application was used to perform the transaction. It is the bank that has all the information and details of the transaction, so only it can effectively handle complaints.
Apps of various banks can be used on the same phone. The transfer to the mobile will be made to the bank account that is linked to the phone number.
They will be told by their bank that the recipient cannot receive the transfer. The bank may suggest another solution in this situation. To receive a transfer, the recipient should follow the bank’s instructions. If they do not do so within the specified time, the funds will return to you. You can also persuade the recipient to register their telephone number so that they can receive transfers to their phone.
